About Myrna Ong
Divorce is rarely about one thing, and hormones alone do not make someone file for separation. If one partner fears TRT will ruin the marriage, they may start to interpret normal changes in a negative light. This is often called a "midlife crisis." It is very difficult to separate what is caused by hormones from what is caused by this life stage. Testosterone therapy may sometimes play a role in that mix, but it is usually indirect, not the main cause.Testosterone is a hormone that affects energy, sex drive, mood, and even confidence. Hormones, especially testosterone, can play an important role in this stage of life. Hormones influence desire and mood, but they do not control choices.
No significant correlations were found between levels of testosterone and any SOI measure or age (see Table 1). Salivary levels of testosterone were analyzed in duplicate using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays according to the manufacturer's instructions (Salimetrics, 2014). This consists of a combination of open-item response items that assess aspects of participants' behaviors (e.g., How many different partners have you had sex (sexual intercourse) with in the past year? This has the advantage of avoiding attaching broad labels to the relationship type a man is in, meaning it can be more precise than categories such as "casually dating." In a similar vein to being in "casual relationships," it was expected that men in "new relationships" would not have experienced the adaptive decrease in testosterone of men in longer relationships. Although this is important, as it should accurately reflect their subjective belief about the relationship (thus revealing their underlying psychological state with regards to their current motivation to seek new partners), it may not be wholly accurate. Prior to this stage, however, casually-paired men should still perceive that they are not at the "committed" stage of the relationship, and may also consider additional and/or new partners at this time.
Sexual intimacy is not only about physical function; it is also deeply tied to emotions and connection. These situations are not uncommon, and they highlight the importance of communication. This can lead to tension if one person wants intimacy much more often than the other. TRT does not always solve this issue fully, but for men with very low testosterone, it can help. Low testosterone can be linked to erectile dysfunction, which is the difficulty in getting or keeping an erection. In addition to boosting desire, TRT can also improve physical performance.
Sometimes couples need extra help when dealing with changes from hormone therapy. Before starting TRT, it helps for both partners to sit down and talk about what might happen. Being open from the beginning allows both partners to prepare for changes, both positive and negative.
If one partner starts TRT without discussing it openly, the other may feel left out or suspicious. For example, if intimacy has been low for years, a sudden rise in sexual energy may push someone to seek new experiences. Infidelity is complex and usually involves more than just hormones. What TRT does is restore hormone levels closer to normal.
Low testosterone may cause you to feel depressed or anxious, tired, weak, and have less interest in sex. Estrogen levels also rise during a healthy pregnancy. Estrogen is a class of related hormones that includes estriol, estradiol, and estrone. Estrogen is often called the female sex hormone, as it plays an important role in the female reproductive system.
